Yesterday afternoon a Red-shouldered Hawk was calling from a tree in the
yard. Each call was answered by another bird, but not a hawk...

A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in an adjacent tree was mewing a response to the
Red-shouldered. This continued for about five minutes.

I hope that my yard sapsucker will find a more appropriate companion soon
(so it does not end up as hawk lunch).
