Subject: [MDOSPREY] Cecil County Siskins/Geese
Greetings,
I spent an hour or two this morning looking for snow-displaced field birds in the Zion area of Cecil County. While I was only able to locate one flock of Horned Larks (approx 75 birds), I was unable to find anything more noable.
I did, however, find about 25 Pine Siskins on a thistle feeder off of Crothers Road. I also found two different goose flocks.
The first was noted on a pond behind a private residence at the intersection of Crothers Road and England Creamery Road. This flock/raft consisted of approximately 1500 birds and included two 'blue' Snow Geese. About a mile to the west, on England Creamery road I found a while flock of Snow Geese (approx. 250 birds). This flock seemed to be a clear 50% mix of adult birds and juvenile birds. I also located three 'blue' geese within this flock (1 adult, 2 juveniles).
Regarding the snow goose flock, one fo the adult white form birds wore a yellow neck band with the marking "MF85." Does any know where I may/should report this?
BTW- I tried to re-locate the Iceland Gull in North East also but did not see it at 8:30AM.
Good Birding,
