I am passing along a report from Greg Kearns. Yesterday (Jan 20) at about 3 pm he saw an immature Golden Eagle at Patuxent River Park (PG Co.), in the vicinity of Mataponi Creek. He said it was seen near 3 other bald eagles, and he had excellent views of it making it easy to confirm the identity. He was with several other people in an area known as the Critical Area Driving Tour, along the boardwalk as it crosses over Mataponi Creek. This area can be accessed by foot from Selby's Landing area, or by car on Sundays only. It is in between Selby's and Merkle Wildlife Management area, and he said the bird may still be in the area.

If you try to look for it, I suggest trying along the Patuxent either at the mouth of Western Branch (at Mt Calvert), also at Jackson Landing, Selby's Landing, and Merkle WMA. It may be possible to also see it from Jug Bay Wetland Sanctuary (AA Co.).
