Now that we know that we will be graced with above average temperatures for
this Saturday, I wanted to see if anyone was sitting on their hands and
still thinking about joining the C & O Canal Midwinter Count on Saturday.

If you don't want to travel to the far wilds of Maryland, miles 7, 8, 9, 10
and 11 are still open. That is roughly Loch 7 at Glen Echo to just shy of
Old Angler's Inn. This is some nice property to walk, and you might get a
Bald Eagle or two. You don't have to take all of these miles, 2 or 3 in the
group would be much appreciated as well.

Also open are miles 76, 77, 78, 79, and 80 just north of Shepherdstown, WV.
Another nice spot where the river winds back and forth.

Then for the far-flung adventurers, we have miles 107-109, 153-161, 179-184.

Of course, you need to contact us at in order to sign
up for miles.
Please consider lending us your skills for the 11th Annual count. See my
message from Jan. 15 for more details about the count.

Thank you!
