Apologies for the sort of off topic question, but I think somebody in this
audience probably knows the answer. Where we live on the Patuxent River,
we can look over the mark at the end of the solomons (Sandy Point) and have
pretty much a direct visual line to the bridge at Honga. Today (Sunday)
there have been several columns of black smoke just north of that bridge and
even in line with it. We are wondering what the source is. Are there
controlled burns of the marshes? Off lne is fine.. Thanks for any ideas..

On a bird related note, my second trip to find the greater white-fronted
goose at the base of the solomon's bridge was futile today. In fact there
were no geese at all in the fields.
