We went looking for Gulls in and around Upper Marlboro today, with some
success, running into George Jett, Kevin Graff and Nico Sarbanes, all with
the same idea:

Schoolhouse Pond: Mostly Ring-bills, a few Herrings and a (presumed)
light-colored first-cycle THAYER'S GULL on the mostly frozen pond. (George
took some pictures, may be same bird reported by others previously.) Also
some Pintail and a host of Canada Geese, but no Cacklers seen.

Depot Pond: Just a handful of Ring-bills, pair of Shoveler and some
Ring-necked Ducks.

Brown's Station Landfill, observing from outside the fence (lots of gulls
sleeping in the sun on the grass): Again mostly Ring-bills with fair number
of Herring, a few Greater Black-backs, one adult LESSER BLACK-BACK and a
first-cycle KUMLIEN'S were seen. Also, a couple of American Tree Sparrows
just inside the fence in ornamental evergreens (thanks Nico for spotting
these) and an American Pipit alongside the recycling center fence.
