Dan Small asked me to post the following:

Yesterday afternoon from 1645 to 1715 I drove a few roads in northern Queen Annes Co looking for open field birds feeding along road edges. The first Lapand Longspur I found was feeding on the north side Rt 544 about ¼ mile east of Royal Farms at the 544/213 intersection. Four other Longspurs were in the fields along Leverage Rd feeding on the east side of the road between 544 and Union Church Rd. Also along Leverage were hundreds of Horned Larks and only 7 American Pipits.  The light was fading and I could only make out the close birds so there could be more Longspurs and maybe Snow Buntings mixed in.

I also found a second year Gambels White-crowned Sparrow feeding with a large mixed sparrow flock on Chino Farms this passed Sunday, unfortunately I wasn’t able to digiscope it and haven’t seen it since.

Maren and I had and interesting observation yesterday, several white-crowneds were feeding on the suet feeder that is 7ft high on the pine tree in our yard.
