Dear All
I was leaving home in a rush this morning, putting the kids in the car and was suddenly aware of a chorus of chipping calls. To my surprise there wasa flock of 8-10 White-winged Crossbills sitting in aopen tree outside the house. Having showed them to a neighbour and taken a couple of bad record shots I had to leave. By which time theye were feeding peacefully in a fir tree (a hemlock i think).
If anyone wnats to look for them them are around Veazey and Reno Streets in NW DC. There are several suitable trees for them to feed in so i would suggest parking on Veazey and then walking out and along Reno checking the small number of conifers.
I will be out until around midday but happy to help people find the birds. If you are planning a visit and want to link up then contact me off list.
Great garden tick!!
Cheers
Gary
