Saturday's gull fieldtrip for the Cecil Bird Club added a new dimension to
my annual expedition. Besides the cold temperatures and the wind, ice was
added this year. Except for the main road, there was a coating of ice over
the entire landfill. Walking conditions ranged between slippery and
treacherous. Finding good vantage points was a challenge. My main concern
was the welfare of the other participants. Although the birding conditions
were suboptimal, the gulls did not disappoint.
