Just a moment ago I was emptying my car for a little road trip. It
was taking longer than I expected, but it turned out to be a good
thing.
I kept checking the tall pines across the street for Crossbills. No luck.
A group of Fish Crows were mobbing some mystery bird in the same pines
for bit. I pished and I looked, but I couldn't locate anything worth
all the crow's fussing.
Then, as I was straightening out the countless work things in the back
of the Volvo, I hear a Peregrine screaming / laughing / carrying on
over head. I look up to find not one, not two, but THREE Peregrines
flying above my West Annapolis community. I grabbed the bins from the
back seat to get a closer look. One was harassing another bird
(flying away, gaining speed) and the other was seemingly just along
for the ride.
Very, very thrilling sight to witness. Perhaps there was a bit of
courtship going on up there and an unwelcome PEFA perhaps dropped by
for a visit/date.
Cool.
Have a good weekend,
