The two male Greater Scaup were still present at 3:00 p.m. today. They were having a snooze at the far side of the ice at the boat ramp. Head profiles on the roosting scaup was identical to the two female roosting scaup on Tuesday, so that makes a total of four individual Greater Scaup at Centennial this week. Hopefully these fellows will linger for the count tomorrow. Canvasback numbers exceeded half a dozen. I didn't count Ring-necks or anything else.

No sign of crossbills

A Red-tailed Hawk was perched on a light on rt. 32 just east of U.S. 1 about 2:40. So cruising rt. 32 might be advisable for tomorrow's HowCo Mid-Winter Count.
