Hi Rod,
The trees they are feeding in are some species of fir trees, according to a
guy I talked with today. They are not any type of spruce that I know of. The
seeds on the cones sort of hang out from the cone, rather unlike the spruce
cones which are tightly packed. They might be Fraser Fir or perhaps Douglas
Fir, but at any rate are not native to our region.
