Many thanks to Bill Hubick and John Hubbell for cluing me in to their WW
Crossbills on Wrighton Rd and the drake Barrow's Goldeneye on the
Patuxent River found by Tyler Bell and company. Scope views of the
Barrow's were terrific, though it was just far enough to make
digiscoping difficult. Due to the position of the birds and the sun, I
found it necessary to scope the ducks from a little bit further down the
dirt road than the previously described pier. I found the blue
head-gloss interesting on this bird - perhaps it was the harsh light.
The field marks are striking.
I hope I don't steal Bill Hubick's thunder, but I know his photos will
best mine : )
