For the Cecil Mid-Winter Count this past Saturday (2/14/09), I counted
at Bethel WMA, Courthouse Point WMA and Chesland County Park.  The
latter site is a new county facility that has been developed as a youth
soccer park, but it contains some large fields of broomsedge where Sean
McCandless had discovered Grasshopper Sparrows this past summer.  I was
hoping for some sparrows in those fields, but as you can see far below,
there were few birds present at that site.  

I also stopped by Brantwood Golf Course in the morning for the
White-winged Crossbills.  I think others have reported them for
Saturday, along with Red-breasted Nuthatches, Golden-crowned Kinglets,
and Brown Creepers at the golf course.

My counts follow.  No rarities, but Fox Sparrow and American Tree
Sparrow were nice to see at Courthouse.
