Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from February 9, 2009

This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note particularly the presence of Wilson's Snipe, Snowy Owl,
Short-eared Owl and the large numbers of Greater Scaup, Red-breasted
Mergansers and Horned Grebes.

Weather: Clear early am; mostly cloudy later, Temp: 32-45 degrees
