I just got back from a little early morning birding in Garrett County.
The lake at Meadows Campground is still frozen. I birded at Finzel
Swamp a little bit too but by far the best bird was a Sandhill Crane
that I found in the cornfield on the east side of the road just a
little past the reservoir (still in sight of the reservoir). I was
looking through the Canada Geese at the time (I didn't see the Greater
White-fronted Goose today though I did see it yesterday) when I saw a
larger bird in the crowd. This is the second one I've seen in the
county but the first one I've ever found on my own.
