Thinking to take advantage of the extensive snow cover to bring any
Horned Larks, my Calvert nemesis, to the roadside, we drove along the
road to Jefff-Patterson Park this evening, and indeed did spot one -
perhaps the last Horned Lark in Calvert County. Also present were many
Chipping Sparrows, as there have been in the yard for the past month -
they perhaps winter over down here. Also in the yard our first Field
Sparrows. Seventy Juncoes during Monday's snow was a remarkable high -
maybe we have the only feeders in town.
