Rick,

Check your breeding bird atlas book. There were never very many Horned Larks in Calvert County

HI Fred,
I know this statement was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but are there  really
that few Horned Larks in Calvert County? Is it just from declining  habitat,
over-development, what? It's been several years since I've been down  that way,
and I seem to recall lots of new homes going in where once there  were nice
tobacco farms, but are there any other reasons for their decline  there?

Horned  Larks, my Calvert nemesis, to the roadside, we drove along the
road to  Jefff-Patterson Park this evening, and indeed did spot one -
perhaps the  last Horned Lark in Calvert  County
