The White-winged Crossbills put on a spectacular show this afternoon in the trees at the corner of Rte 108 and the south entrance to Centennial Park.  There were about a dozen in total, with one very pink male, one younger male and a lot of female-type birds. After about 30 mins of close study they all flew off to the west.

Earlier I went to Violette's and Riley's lock to catch up with the good waterfowl that have been reported. The four Trumpeter Swans were at their spot S of Violette's, with 5 Tundra Swan nearby for a nice comparison. On the stretch of river between Violette's and Riley's lock there was a Red-necked Grebe over by the Va shoreline. The scoters were also hugging the far shore as well.
