Howard and Montgomery Counties, 3/10

Hi Everyone,

I decided to do some birding after work yesterday (3/10), focusing on water spots in Howard and Montgomery Counties. Highlights were two WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLs at Centennial Lake (including a singing adult male), three RED-NECKED GREBEs at Triadelphia, at least four CACKLING GEESE in a flyover Canada flock at Triadelphia, and a nice AMERICAN WOODCOCK showing at Blue Mash Nature Trail.

Red-necked Grebe--2; 3 birds total, but they spent most of their time very close to the Howard shore; before I left, two birds had moved south to the more open water and approached the Montgomery shore; in general, two closely associating and one hanging out a bit further away; Ring-billed Gulls attempting a bit of kleptoparasitism, trying to steal the grebes' fish after successful dives
