An Osprey on the channel marker North of the Point was a FOY both
Chris Murray and I.

The sparrows were quiet. The Cardinals were hush hush. Even the herd
of Mockingbirds weren't strangely silent. The raptors must've been
dozing. Not even a single Sandhill Crane! But...

Chris and I really enjoyed counting. We practiced counting all the way
up to 27. There were 27 Horned Grebes, in some fairly tight rafts out
in the Bay. I've seen many Horned Grebes in the same location before,
but never in such close proximity. With birding there is always
something new to learn and enjoy.

Lastly, there were two Bluebirds investigating the nest box regularly
occupied by Tree Swallows on the Nature Center's Bobwhite Loop. One
summer evening on a bench overlooking that nest box, I proposed to my
wife Emery while we watched the Tree Swallows fledge. So even though
that spot holds special meaning for me and the soon-to-be returning
Swallows, it would appear that the Bluebirds like it as well.

Good Birding,
