The Chuckar and bobwhites were released from the dog field trial
(Mason-Dixon German Shorthaired Pointer Club) that was held in the dog
training areas along Sycamore Landing Rd.. My experience has been that the
chuckar will be gone shortly, but a few of the bobwhites will persist.
To respond a question I was asked a few years ago and didn't know the
answer then- they use Chuckars in field trials because they fly when wet
unlike bobwhites.
In the past few years the dog people used bobwhites that were
raised to be wilder than the normal pen-raised birds, but this breeder is no
longer in business.

My brother, Robert, and I did some birding in Montgomery County today. The
most exciting find (despite not being very countable) was a Chukar along
Sycamore Landing Rd around 5 pm. It was just standing on a log within a few
feet of the road and we got great looks. Later at the same location we
watched a few American Woodcock displays. Some other highlights follow.
