Today near my home in Southern Anne Arundel County I came across a pair of pileated woodpeckers.  They spent most of the observed time on the ground, feeding on and around a fallen log.  Also, when they did fly, they tended to stay in the lower ½ of the trees – lower than I’m used to finding pileateds.

This morning there were four snow geese spotted in the fields of M 6 farm.  Quite unusual for this area.
