As I got out of the car at the Battle Creek Cypress Swamp in light rain at 3pm, I heard a HERMIT THRUSH singing, and later another one singing in the swamp. Other parking lot birds of some interest included BROWN CREEPER, BROWN THRASHER, EASTERN PHOEBE, EASTERN TOWHEE, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, and HAIRY WOODPECKER. A male PURPLE FINCH was at the feeders, apparently not unusual there.

Curious to know if AMERICAN WOODCOCK display in rain, I parked at the ACLT southside trailhead at 7:30pm and heard twittering as soon as I got out of the car. (Admittedly, it was barely raining.) I did not walk down the trail or stay long, but am certain of at least three individuals peenting and flying.
