I spent a very lovely evening winding my way back from West Virginia along the scenic byways. I went through Southern Frederick County near sunset and to my delight, the corn stubble fields were full of Eastern Meadowlarks between Adamstown and Oland Roads. I have stopped there 4-5 times previously and never got more than a glimpse of a bird in flight. Tonight, they were extremely vocal and cooperative, and I got excellent looks at the active birds. Success at last!!
