This morning (3/22), despite the cold, I saw some interesting birds. A skittish pair of Wood Ducks swimming in the pond upstream of Lake Elkhorn gave brief views and then took off. There were still two Pine Siskins around the upper end of Lake Elkhorn and also a Fox Sparrow. Along an east Columbia pathway leading from Kilrain Court I observed a male Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, a singing Ruby-crowned Kinglet and another Fox Sparrow. Finally, at home, the female Cooper's Hawk continues its nest building activities.
