Earlier today, around 2 PM, my dad and I looked for the Eurasian Collared
-
Dove around Dividing Creek Rd in Somerset Co. When we turned onto
Pocomoke
River Rd we found the dove on a telephone wire. While trying to take
pictures of the dove it flew down the road to the intersection with
Clearfield Dr.
to the right and Somerset Rd to the left where it landed in a wooded area.
We
parked the car near the Intersection and walked to where the dove entered
the trees. I then heard the dove cooing which gave away its location.
Just
then I heard another coo coming from another direction and I spotted
another
Eurasian - collard Dove on the other side of the street. One of the doves
was
very vocal so I decided to coo back at it, " Coo - Coooo - Coo ", and was
amazed to see the dove flying right toward me then landing next to the
other
dove while making a growling coo as if sounding an alarm. As I continued

to
mimic, both birds kept answering and the one flew over my head several more
times.
