Thanks to all those who contined to post. I managed to finally get out
and wound up with three lifers: the Harris' sparrow at about 8:30 AM in
Columbia, about a dozen Wilson's snipe at Oxbow Lake around 9:45 AM when
the fog lightened considerably, and one red-throated loon just before I
gave up at the Severn Inn in Annapolis around 11:15 AM. The view of the
loon was a bit distant even with the scope and there was lots of mist,
but the consistently upturned bill and the slender profile were clear.
I was standing in the park next to the pier looking under the bridge in
I believe a westerly direction.
Thanks to Ira of Laurel for his company in Columbia and for guiding me
quickly from Columbia to Oxbow.
There were at least a dozen snipe at Oxbow, along with one nice pair of
green-winged teal side by side. The four great blue herons seemed to
have very fresh crisp plumage.
Strange weather day but great for some of us.
