Hi Folks,

I read from all the reports that the Howard Co. Painted Bunting was not very
cooperative yesterday. We have not determined where it goes when not at the
feeder on Red Jacket. However, Steve Claudy at 7980 Savage-Guilford Rd. has
very kindly offered to have birders visit his back yard. This is on the
road used to enter the neighborhood, and this is the address where the bird
was originally found and photographed more than two weeks ago. The house
sits far back from the road, and birders may access the back yard by walking
up the long driveway, then along the left side of the house to the large
back yard (two houses use this double driveway--it is the larger house on
the right). There are feeders hanging from long lines way up in the trees,
and there are some on the deck railing in the back of the house, along with
a water dish where the bunting was first seen. It seems likely that the
bird has returned to this location, though it has not been detected doing
so. It's good to know it was at least seen once yesterday, but this of
course is of no consolation to those who invested hours in the search
without success. It took me three visits of about an hour each before I was
fortunate enough to see the bunting during my fourth visit.

Best wishes in your searches.
