Today the Allegany & Garrett Counties Bird Club had its annual Garrett
Co. lakes field trip for migrating waterfowl and other water birds.
The trip was led by Roy Brown and attendees included J.B. Churchill,
Courtney Englar, Carol & Joe McDaniel, and myself. The trip included
Finzel Swamp, Piney Reservoir, and Little Meadows Lake & Campground.
Despite extremely strong West winds, gusting up to 45mph, we managed 8
species of ducks including 5 GADWALL, 3 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 5 AMERICAN
WIGEON, and about 150 RING-NECKED DUCK at Little Meadows. Also
everyone saw their first of the year BARN SWALLOW at Little Meadows.
