I did some birding in the rain at Centennial and Meadowbrook Parks in Howard County today (4/15), from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. The highlights were a lingering White-winged Crossbill in Douglas Fir between park headquarters and pavilion G, breeding plumage Common Loon on the lake, and a Caspian Tern and Osprey flying over the lake near the dam. In the same Douglas Fir trees were two yellow Palm Warblers and three Pine Warblers. Nearby were Yellow-rumped Warblers and a Field Sparrow. At Meadowbrook Park I saw two Great Egrets along the stream behind the tot lot and six Savannah Sparrows by the baseball field closest to the bridge.
