There is a first spring Little Blue Heron on the mudflats at the rear of Schoolhouse Pond. It was fairly distant from my vantage point and at first I thought that I couldn't identify it beyond a small white heron as I only had my bins on me. However, as it foraged on the mudflats I got a better look at its back and could see patches of blue-gray feathers coming in. Also present were several Double-crested Cormorants, flyover Herring, Laughing, and Ring-billed Gulls, and at least one Blue-winged Teal.
