Rick,

Goldfinches are an irruptive northern finch like siskins and crossbills.
They came south in good numbers with the siskins. Now it is spring migration
and many are moving north again with stops at our feeders where they are
joined by the resident birds. Check your Yellow Book.

Just wondering if others share my impression that there are a LOT of
American Goldfinches out this spring. I haven't been out of my
neighborhood, so
maybe this is peculiar to Georgetown, but they're all over Motrose &
Dumbarton Oaks Parks as well as the Female Union Band Cemetery (off 27th &
 Q St
NW). I've never noticed before how many & varied their vocalizations are
- they're making it hard to hear anything else!
