This afternoon around 2 PM, while running a quick errand to the Home
Depot in Annapolis (on 450), I decided to drop by Waterworks Park to
listen for the Baltimore Orioles. I had to assume that they were now
there, based on all of the reports. And, yes they were present... a
male and a female. Two Kingbirds and two Orchard Orioles. Couples
are everywhere at the park it would seem, except for...

...a single LINCOLN SPARROW. This bird was at the entrance to the
park. As it may turn out, it's location is a very good thing. You
see, one must buy a permit for entry into the park. But should the
bird decide to stay one more night in it's current spot, no problem.
You don't even need to enter the park to see it.

Here is the deal: I ventured back later this evening to show Chris
Murray and Warren & Lisa Strobel. Yes for Chris and I at 5:45 and
6:45 PM. Then the bird decided to hide for Warren and Lisa's arrival
around 7 PM. But before heading home, I bought some sunflower seed
and spread it around where the bird was last seen.

Directions: From the parking area, simply walk up the hill towards the
park entrance. As the tall chain link fence begins at the top of the
hill (on the right), it comes to a point. There are a few pines just
behind the fence and lots of brush. The bird was in there, politely
sitting and flitting about every so often. I managed to snag a few
photos through the fence, which wasn't an easy task. I'll post them
to my blog.

In other news, Chris Murray told me that the Yellow-Breasted Chats are
back at Greenbury Point. As a parasitic bonus, the Lone Star Ticks
have set up an incredibly successful breeding station on this famous
point. If you go, bring lots of bug spray, stay on the gravel paths
and check yourself thoroughly after leaving the trails. It's a deer
sanctuary... ugh.

Good Birding,
