We visited Merkle over the weekend and had a great visit.  I can't get over how many more species there were this week!   Our highlights were a flying barred owl, an immature eagle, beautiful warblers and a red-headed woodpecker.  I have not seen a red-headed woodpecker in ages!  Here is a poor photo of his beauty!

And then there were the swallows, purple martins, snowy egret, thrushes, wood ducks, etc. etc.... 
Sigh.....it is so hard to be trapped in the office all week!
