Last night I took a short walk at Davidsonville Park in AA County.  It was late and there were sports events in the fields, so I didn’t expect to see a lot.  The first bird was a very bright and perky blue-gray gnatcatcher.  There was a downy woodpecker feeding on a phragmites stem – I didn’t know they would do that!

The evening highlights were a pair of EASTERN TOWHEES – the male flew over my head into a bush right in front of me.  The female was shyer, but both stuck together and offered looks.   I saw a pair of INDIGO BUNTINGS seen in the fading light in the reeds at one of the larger ponds.

A few years ago, this park had a lot of indigo buntings – but I haven’t seen them there in awhile.  Wonderful FOY for me!

Wish me luck on the ibis .... it's a long drie and I'm late leaving!

Best,

Joanne
