Today, Mike and I tried for the White-faced Ibis in Berlin without any success. Our first attempt was at 10am, when there was only one Glossy Ibis along with a couple hundred Laughing Gulls, a Blue-winged Teal, and other birds present. We tried again at 5pm. There were more Ibises this time (7 or 8) but still no White-faced. Maybe it has already moved on, but I wouldn't give up on it yet.

During our day on the Eastern Shore, we tried to go to what was formerly known as Eagle's Nest Campground to look for shorebirds. Having read the recent posts about this site, we had no doubts that if we simply checked in first at the Welcome Center then we would be allowed to bird the area. Sadly this wasn't the case. The woman at the front desk said she had given access to someone about a week ago and was later told not to do that (I assume by a supervisor). She didn't say if it was because something this person did or what. She just concluded that no one can bird there unless you are paying for a campsite. I didn't know if this was new policy or just a misinformed employee but I wasn't going to push it, so I said thank you and went on my way. It wasn't a great hindrance to our day, but I thought people would want to know the current status of the place.
