Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from April 27, 2009
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note particularly the large numbers of DC Cormorant, Mallard and
Snowy Egret, as well as the mere presence of Horned Grebe, Gadwall, Sora,
Black-necked Stilt, Greater Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpiper,Horned Lark,
Seaside Sparrow and White-throated Sparrow.
