Yellow-crowned Night Herons have built a nest directly over San Martin
Drive, less than 100 feet north of the intersection with Wyman Park Drive.
From the behavior of the adults (both perched near but not yet on the
nest for long periods) it appears eggs have not been laid. This nest is
located in the same tree, next to the nest reported last year, however the
old nest is not being actively used at this time.

Going south on Wyman Park Drive towards Druid Hill park, you cross two
bridges: one over Stony Run and one over Jones Falls/I-83. On the south side
of the Jones Falls/I-83 bridge, just below eye level with pedestrians, are
two active Yellow-crowned Night Heron nests located over the falls. Because
of their location, observers from the bridge can actually look into the
nests and see the eggs/eventual chicks. The bird in the right-hand nest has
just laid the 5th egg, while the adults on the left-hand nest have just
completed construction.
