Whooping Crane Volunteers Wanted

Patuxent Wildlife Research Center Whooping Crane Program in Laurel, Maryland
is looking for a few additional volunteers to help raise endangered Whooping
Crane chicks for release into the wild.

Primary duties include:

Teaching crane chicks to eat and drink on their own.

Walking crane chicks for exercise.

Using a pressure washer to clean rubber mats and carpets.

Cleaning pens, dishes and mopping floors.

Mowing grass with a large brush mower and small push mower.

Help is needed mostly in the evenings approximately 4pm to 8pm. But help is
also welcome during the day or on weekends. Due to the constantly changing
progress of the crane chicks and constantly changing locations of the
chicks, we would prefer individuals help at least 2 days a week if possible.
Individuals must be able to refrain from talking loudly near the chicks and
be able to work in hot conditions in a warm baggy costume while doing a lot
of bending and crouching. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Questions?? Call Brian at 301-535-8491 cell or send email to

Thank you,
