I was at the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area (MPEA) this afternoon and
encountered the Road Closed sign on Trotter Road as I was coming in from the
south off Route 32. The gentleman at the Road Closed sign said it was okay
to drive past the sign as long as you were just going to the MPEA parking
lot a few hundred feet up the road on the right. Other than that, the road
is closed as Scott said below.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Ho Co MPEA - Sora & road closure

I birded the Howard County Middle Patuxent Environmental Area (MPEA) this
morning to readjust my eyes and ears after being on the west coast for a
couple of weeks. The best bird was a SORA calling kooEE from across the
river about half way between the connector trail and the wildlife loop
trail.

ROAD CLOSURE – Trotter Road had barricades both north & south of the MPEA
Trotter Rd parking lot. I learned Trotter Rd in the vicinity of the MPEA
parking lot will have delays and closures as they install sewer lines
through mid-June. A recorded message at 410-313-3637 has project details
and updates.

To avoid the construction, consider using the South Wind Circle parking,
coming from MD 32 south of the MPEA.

For birding information, maps and directions, please see the Howard County
Bird Club web site at
