Observers: Ed Carlson, Hal Wierenga, John Hoffman, Sue Ricciardi
Weather:
Partly cloudy; 68-78 degrees; fair visibility; winds light and variable,
often with a westerly or southerly component
Raptor Observations:
Great to see some sunshine again and hawks in the skies! Twice we watched
a local Peregrine Falcon attack a passerine. In one instance, the
peregrine made acrobatic maneuvers going after a Blue Jay, getting
underneath it, the flustered jay flapping upwards trying to stay out of the
peregrine's reach. The peregrine then got above the Jay and both dove down
into the trees. The jay escaped but is probably still cowering somewhere
in the vegetation.
Non-raptor Observations: More than 50 Bobolinks
