It's been a great weekend, and it's not over yet...

Lisa and I started the weekend off by meeting Dan Haas after work Friday just oustide Weinberg Park, near Fort Smallwood Park, AA County, where the Chuck-Will's-Widow was calling just after sunset, as we'd hoped it would be. Two of them, in fact. Lifer!

Saturday, we hung around our house in the Epping Forest area of Annapolis, mostly doing yardwork, but seeing and (mostly) hearing some great birds in the back woods and overhead for the May Count:

_ Black-Throated Blue Warbler, 2
_ Blackpoll Warbler
_ Great-Crested Flycatcher
_ Wood Thrush
_ American Robin
_ Blue Jay
_ Fish Crow
_ Red-Eyed Vireo
_ Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
_ Northern Cardinal
_ Carolina Wren
_ Tufted Titmouse
_ Red-Bellied Woodpecker
_ House Finch, m and f
_ Morning Dove
_ American Goldfinch
_ Great Blue Heron, flyover
_ GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, seen and heard. Definitely a new yard bird!

Sunday morning, before turning to Mother's Day duties, we headed over to Terrpain Park on Kent Island, QA County. Warblers weren't fantastic, but we had some nice birds:

_ Common Yellowthroat
_ Black-Throated Blue Warbler
_ Magnolia Warbler (FoY)
_ Palm Warbler (late?)
_ Yellow-Billed Cuckoo
_ Indigo Bunting (2+) (FoY)
_ Blue Grosbeak
_ Baltimore Oriole (FoY)
_ House Wren
_ Yellow-Breasted Chat (FoY)
_ House Wren
_ Gray Catbird, numerous
_ White-Eyed Vireo
_ Chipping Sparrow.

We also heard what we are certain was a singing Cerulean Warbler, but it flew off before we could see it and make a 100 percent I.D. Darn..

GOOD BIRDING!
