With the weather shift, I expected a great morning in Ft. Bayard this morning, and I got it. Warbler diversity was not great (6 species), but a singing male CAPE MAY was the best bird. Runners-up were a LEAST FLYCATCHER, and a flyover GREEN HERON that was my first for the park.
BALTIMORE ORIOLES impressed with their numbers--at least 5, probably many more. Catbirds were even more numerous. 2 BLUE-HEADED VIREOS were still passing through, as was a single White-throated Sparrow. A pair of reasonably cooperative ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS added even more color.
