Two teams from Centreville won their divisions at the World Series of
Birding.
The Steiner Merlins won the Elementary School Division with 117 species.
Members are Brett Mallon, Charles Lansinger, Danny Lenchner, Alyssa Walls
and Andi Hilton. There is no greater joy than a third grader shouting out
"Robin with a sore throat! Robin with a sore throat! SCARLET TANAGER!!"
The Steiner Peregrines won the Middle School Division with 158 species.
Members are Michelle Long, Tabby Lansinger, Kelley Jewell and Kiley and
Shannon Pignataro. Shannon has been on a winning WSB team for 4 consecutive
years while the other young ladies have been on 3 winning teams.
These enthusiastic, dedicated, hard working youth are truly the future of
birding.

ps: While Zach had a magnificent day with the DVOC and his skills are
remarkable, these young ladies are certainly cuter than he is. |
