Took a quick run along Rt 107 through Poolesville and down River Rd past
Patton Turf Farm this morning. Highlights include a singing VESPER
SPARROW in grassy area across from the Robert Hawkins Sod Farm along Rt
107. At Patton Turf Farm there were a few shorebirds including my FOY
Semipalmated Sandpiper, a nice breeding plumage Dunlin, 2 Semipalmated
Plovers, a Lesser Yellowlegs and some Killdeer along with a single
American Pipit and assorted starlings, RW Blackbirds, Mourning Doves,
and Horned Larks. These birds were in the plowed field across from last
set of turf fields heading south on River Rd.

Ran into Jim Green at Hughes Hollow around mid morning who said that
earlier around 7 AM he heard a Least Bittern calling from somewhere
along back edge of the large impoundment on left.

Good birding,

Andy Martin
