Hi all --

I am rushing to go away for a week (non-birding) so will post only the
highlights of the May 18 Poplar Island trip, which was enjoyed by a full
contingent of birders. Sherman Suter was our Official Scribe and will post
the full list soon.

The premiere highlight had to be the PACIFIC LOON seen off the western side
of the island on our last loop -- last seen drifting off in the direction of
Calvert County much to Jim Stasz's delight. George Jett got some good photos
of this interesting bird.

Before that we enjoyed crippling looks at two bright female RED-NECKED
PHALAROPES in one of the impoundments -- right off the shoreline next to our
bus, much to the delight of all, especially the photographers as many
megapixels were captured of the two little jewels.

Additional goodies included two late PURPLE SANDPIPERS, two WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPERS and two cooperative CLIFF SWALLOWS. The thousands of peep and
Dunlin, & the nesting gulls and cormorants were also impressive.
