Hey, Rick,
That reminds me: while birding the Tracey's Store trail at Prettyboy R.
with Jeanne Bowman yesterday, that was the highlight of our walk-the
C. Loon, that is.

Our total count came to 35 spp., including 4 warblers. The Prairie and
Wormie serenaded us quite a bit. Also, a Wild Turkey was heard. The
usual suspects rounded out our total.

A non-avian note: walking a side trail, we found a $20 note. Along with
a coupon for a free meal at Ruby Tuesday's at Shrewsbury after the walk,
it made for a serendipitous outing! Keep looking for those birds!!

I missed if this bird has been reported already, but there is a Common Loon
at Lakeside Business Park (Sunday, May 24) in truly stunning breeding
plumage. I didn't check any reporting or late dates, but this bird is
probably considered late. On the very rare occasion, I've had Common Loon
on the Susquehanna River during the Rock Run Mill May Count. For the time I
watched, this bird seemed healthy: diving, preening, and doing the waterfowl
body-raised wing-flapping (no calling, darn, maybe I'll go back this
evening). A pair of Least Terns were also present. Lakeside is the site
where the pair of Trumpeter Swans in Harford were observed. The loon is a
real photogenic gem (Hint)!!
