It wasn't hot and humid enough early on, so I waited til 1100 to start my
walk. Self flagellation is so restorative. Anyway, after a late start, I was
surprised to end up with 36 spp., but no transients save a Swainson's
Thrush (?). A twice-heard Kentucky Warbler was nice, particularly for
this area in recent years. Other warblers were Yellowthroat, Ovenbird
and Yellow. Another unusual sighting: a female Wood Duck hanging
out with a pair of Canada Geese and their 9 goslings. I'll swear she was
standing guard, looking very alert while the gang browsed along the
edges of a mud flat. Total count follows:
