I really appreciate all the posts and emails with thoughts about this bird. I especially appreciate that everyone is so willing to help a person with less birding skill grow and learn without feeling bad about it!
One thing I learned already is that I should be more descriptive when making a request like this. The size of the bird was about 5 to 6 inches. The lighting is the picture is a bit reflective off/onto the bird from what I was seeing with my eyes. The bird was not as yellow as it looks in the photo. This particular bird was not singing when I saw it. Here is a link to another picture that shows the bird from the back so folks can see the tail better. I apologize for the picture quality. I did not have my best lens on the camera at the time and focusing is fun through tree branches! Thank you all very much for this educational experience.
Also, a shout-out to Jay Sheppard who ran into my daughter Lauren and I while we were on our first trip to Owbow Lake. He gave us a very educational "tour" and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
